In The Byron Trilogy‘s second book, the demons of San Francisco aren’t finished… and neither is Hell.

In an alternate 1920s San Francisco plagued by hidden evil, only a few gifted individuals can see the truth, that demons walk among us. Supernatural detectives Byron and Raven thought they had triumphed when they cast the demon Moloch back into the abyss. But as the city rings in the new year, fresh darkness stirs beneath the glittering surface.
It starts with Byron’s sister, locked away in an asylum for years, suddenly waking up sane. Byron finds this hard to trust. Why now? Then a ruthless slumlord dies under mysterious circumstances, his luxury Rolls Royce crashing in flames. At the scene, Byron discovers a cursed ancient coin, and a chilling pattern begins to emerge.
One by one, cursed artifacts linked to horrific crimes appear across the city. Teaming up with Raven, once a streetwise survivor, now a powerful ally, and Jimmy, a tough-as-nails police officer, Byron must trace the origins of these items and stop the spread of demonic chaos before it consumes them all.
But danger comes from more than just demons. Raven’s powerful grandfather, an influential archbishop, is determined to dismantle their team, threatening to revoke their freedom and silence them forever. And as Byron and Raven grow closer, they must grapple with emotions neither of them expected… and a love that could destroy what little safety they have left.
Dark magic, spiritual warfare, and forbidden romance collide in this explosive second installment of The Byron Trilogy, a fast-paced, faith-tinged urban fantasy series. Perfect for fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Grimm, Angel, Frank Peretti, and Ted Dekker, this Christian supernatural suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Story Behind the Story
In the early 2000s, I wrote a trilogy around Byron, Raven, and Falan. In this alternate version, which takes place in an unknown time and place, Raven and Byron flew to Rome to handle a demonic threat in the heart of the Holy City, which unveiled a blood-drinking satanic cult, devoted to the demon Lamia (the origin of vampire stories). It was cool, but no longer fit in with my rewrite of Byron, after moving them to San Francisco in the 1920s. So, I scrapped my original draft altogether and wrote something fresh.
Because I had a brilliant idea to involve the Seven Sins as tangible objects loose within the city, this book took me no time at all to write. It flowed from one even to another, and my imagination went full-tilt into delving into Raven’s past, her relationship with her grandfather, and in bringing them to a resolution. The only thing I kept from the original draft is the awakening of Byron’s sister from her demonic trance in the mental institution; and I build a mystery around her, as we wonder how this happened, why it’s happening now, and whether a sinister force is behind it.
This contains one of my favorite show-downs in any of the books I’ve written, with one character moving in and out of reality, able to see and interact with demons in the third dimension, but who cannot make humans hear them in ours. I love horror stories with powerful conclusions that explore deep concepts, and here, Raven gets to confront the truth of her past, face her fears of being in an asylum, and tell her grandfather what she thinks of him.
And, it all accumulates in a cliffhanger, when Byron faces a choice that will change all their lives forever. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait six months for the final book like the rest of my readers! 😉
